Spring: A time for New Beginnings

Welcome to Pen & Hive Studio, which I hope will feel more like a magazine than a blog, and a bit like home.

Spring is the time for new projects and resolutions. Longer days full of sunshine and the hum of bees easily usher in fresh starts and do overs.

Which brings me to this project.

If you’ve been around a while you’ll remember that the original Pen & Hive, a blog I tended for over a decade, included lots of DIY and small projects. Pen & Hive Studio will be something different. Less about how to and more about why. Fewer instructions, more joy.

Writing in a journal gives thoughts a place to land and frees up mental space for imagination and wonder. It allows us to capture good thoughts, ideas, or insights. I’ll be sharing some of those journal entries with you here.

There also will be a novel, shared one chapter at a time (the first chapter is available now on Substack) and a sequel which I am currently working on. There will be inspirational insights and lots of encouragement. I’ll be sharing glimpses of the garden with you and bringing you along to peek inside the beehives.

So welcome to your antidote to short form content and endless scrolling where we’ll celebrate words, beauty, wisdom, and yes, bees.
